Artifact World Gallery is a static, openly-licensed catalog of fine-art works in the
public domain. Each work has a canonical record page with provenance, holding
institution, and machine-readable structured data (schema.org). The catalog is a
consumer of museum open-access data; it does not author the underlying art metadata.

The 481 holding institutions above are the venues that currently hold cataloged works.
They are a subset of the wider 5,092-venue museum atlas — a reachability map of every
catalogued venue, including those whose works are not yet represented in the collection.

## Licensing

Artwork images are in the public domain (CC0 / Public Domain Mark) and are sourced from
the museums that hold the originals. Catalog text and structured data may be reused with
attribution to Artifact World Gallery. There is no paywall on the catalog; a separate
made-to-order print store is the only commercial surface.
