Untitled is a 1989 graphite by Allan McCollum, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This is a wall of 30 small, square paintings. Each one has a simple black shape—like a blob with a stem—on a light background. The frames are all the same size, neatly lined up in rows. The shapes look hand-drawn but are all slightly different. Some are rounder, some have extra bumps or lines. The artist made them all by hand, even though they’re similar.
