Untitled IV is a 2020 by Catalina Chervin, held at Victoria and Albert Museum.
This drawing looks like a sheet of paper with lots of thin, crisscrossed lines. The lines are mostly dark brown or black, packed tightly in some spots and loose in others. The edges of the paper are torn and uneven, showing the raw white underneath. The lines create a dark shape in the center that looks like a rough, shadowy figure. The rest of the paper stays light, almost like the lines are carving into it. Check out cross-hatching to see how artists build shadows with layers of lines.
