About this work

This painting is all straight lines stacked in rows. The lines are black and white, perfectly even, running left to right. Some lines are thicker, some thinner, but they all follow the same pattern. The artist used a tool to carve these lines into wood, then printed them. It’s part of a small set of four similar works. Look up woodcut next to see how this printing method works.
