Untitled is a 1974 ink by Claes Oldenburg, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This is a drawing of a giant, wobbly broom. It’s made of thick, brown lines and shapes, like it’s been stretched and twisted. The handle bends at odd angles, and the bristles fan out unevenly, almost like they’re melting. Tiny red dots float in the background, as if someone splashed paint. The broom sits on a light blue square that looks like a floor or a table. The whole thing feels playful, like a toy that’s too big. The artist signed it in the corner, but the name isn’t clear. If you like this weird, oversized style, check out lithography to see how it’s made.
Claes Oldenburg (January 28, 1929 – July 18, 2022) was a Swedish-born American sculptor best known for his public art installations, typically featuring large replicas of everyday objects.
