Untitled
2008
From the collection of Museum of Modern Art
Untitled is a 2008 by Felix Harlan, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This black-and-white image shows two wrinkled hands clasped together. The fingers are slightly curled, with rings on the ring fingers. The skin looks weathered, and the hands rest on what appears to be a folded cloth. The artist used shading to make the hands look three-dimensional. The light comes from the top left, casting shadows that add depth. Look up chiaroscuro next to see how this technique works.
This artist made stark, untitled photogravures in 2008—single images printed in ink on paper, no title, no year on the front.
