About this work

This is a plain black square with a white border around it. In the center, there’s a smaller white rectangle. Inside that rectangle, the words “HALE WOODRUFF” are printed in simple, bold letters. The edges of the black square look like it’s folded or cut, almost like a piece of paper. This is actually part of a series of prints, not a painting. The artist used a tool called linoleum cuts to make these images. Next, check out Hale Woodruff to see more of his work.
