Untitled is a 1971 ink by Harold Tovish, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This image is a black-and-white print with lots of tiny, repeating lines. The lines run horizontally, creating a wavy, layered effect. Faint shapes—maybe faces or objects—seem to float in the middle, but they’re hard to make out. The artist used a method that lets them press ink onto stone or metal, then transfer it to paper. That’s how the lines stay so crisp and even. Look up lithography next to see how this technique works.
Harold Tovish (July 31, 1921 – January 4, 2008) was an American sculptor who worked in bronze, wood, and synthetic media.
