This drawing shows a woman holding a baby, both in simple, clean lines. The background is a light tan with scattered stars. The woman’s face and body are smooth and stylized, not realistic. This is a lithograph, which means the artist drew on a flat stone and pressed it to paper. The stars and shapes are added separately, a method called *chine collé*.
