Untitled is a 1928 graphite by Horace Brodzky, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This sketch shows a rough, grid-lined room with five stick-figure people sitting or standing. On the left, two sit on a chair and a low stool, while three others stand or crouch near a table. The walls have shelves with bowls and a small window with a ship drawing. The right side shows a door and a few faint figures outside. The grid lines and quick lines suggest the artist was planning a bigger painting. The ship drawing in the window looks like a simple, almost childlike style. Next, check out cross-hatching to see how artists build shading with lines.
Horace Ascher Brodzky was an Australian-born artist and writer most of whose work was created in London and New York.
