This painting is all straight lines and shadows. Tiny black rectangles fill the page in a grid, stacked neatly like rows of bricks. The lines are so close together they almost blend, but you can still see the white gaps between them. The artist used a felt-tip pen and pencil to draw every single line by hand. That’s a lot of patience—no shortcuts here. If you like this kind of careful, repetitive drawing, look up cross-hatching.
