Untitled

ink
From the collection of Museum of Modern Art
Untitled is a 1965 ink by John Goodyear, depicting Stripe, held at Museum of Modern Art.
You see a sheet of paper with bold shapes cut out of it—some circles, some jagged edges—printed on both sides in bright red and black. Goodyear made this as part of a set where each print could be folded, stacked, or even worn like a mask. The cut-outs let light and shadow play across the surface, so the work changes depending on how you hold it. Look up *lithography* to see how artists turn flat paper into something you can touch and move.
John Martin Goodyear was an American professional football running back in the National Football League (NFL) for the Washington Redskins.
