About this work

This poster is mostly red with bold black text and images. At the center, a skeleton in a top hat and suit stands on a pile of bodies. Around it, smaller skeletons and skulls pop up in different scenes—some reading, others fighting or dancing. The text is packed with short poems and jokes about death and the news. The skeleton’s top hat and the chaotic mix of skeletons and skulls make it look like a dark joke about life and death. The text is in Spanish, and it feels like it’s mocking powerful people while making death seem like the great equalizer. Check out etching to see how artists carve images into metal plates.
