Untitled is a 1918 watercolor by Lyonel Feininger, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This sketch shows a row of stick-figure people in red coats and black hats, standing close together on a narrow path. Above them, a bright red sun floats in a pale sky with light green clouds. The ground is a mix of dark and light lines, like a rough road or fence. The title written at the bottom—*"Leute auf See-Steg"*—means "People on the pier" in German. The figures look like they’re waiting or watching something, but their faces stay blank. If you like this loose, sketchy style, check out more of Lyonel Feininger’s work.
Lyonel Charles Adrian Feininger was a German-American painter, and a leading exponent of Expressionism.
