About this work

This painting shows a crowded room with people scattered everywhere. Some are sitting, some are standing, and a few are lying down. The walls are a flat pink, and the floor is a mix of gray and white tiles. Everyone looks like they’re dressed in casual clothes from the 1960s—bright colors, simple shapes, and a few wearing hats. One odd detail is how the people’s faces are all blurry or sketchy, like they’re not the focus. The artist used lots of different tools—ink, watercolor, even gold pencil—to make it feel busy and messy. If you like this style, check out Patrick Procktor for more of his work.
