Untitled is a 1980 silver by Sol LeWitt, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This is a black-and-white photo of a city grid from above. Streets form tight blocks, like a maze. Two big white rectangles cut into the middle—one is empty, the other shows a blurry, half-built shape. The edges of the buildings are sharp, but the photo looks faded, like it’s old. The empty rectangle might be a joke or a placeholder. The artist played with how we see maps and photos—sometimes they’re just tools, not perfect records. Look up Sol LeWitt next to see how he turned simple ideas into art.
Solomon "Sol" LeWitt (September 9, 1928 – April 8, 2007) was an American artist linked to various movements, including conceptual art and minimalism.
