About this work

This face is made of rough, textured shapes—like clay or melted metal. The skin looks cracked and uneven, with a big black mouth and hollow eyes. Gold lines streak the cheeks, and the hair is wild, spiky curls on top of the head. The artist mixed printmaking with hand-painted gold to make it stand out.
