About this work

This image shows a rough, sketchy face surrounded by tangled lines and dark shapes. The colors are mostly greenish-brown and black, with some lighter areas around the edges. The lines look hurried, almost like scribbles, but they still form a face with a nose, mouth, and eyes. The artist used a printing method that lets ink sit on a flat stone before pressing paper onto it. This lets the lines stay loose and uneven, like a quick drawing. Check out lithography to see how this technique works.
