Untitled is a 1983 ink by Bruce Nauman, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This drawing shows two empty rectangular boxes connected by a thin line, like a hallway. The whole thing is covered in messy, crisscrossed lines—some thick, some faint—making it look like a sketch exploded. The paper is mostly white, but the ink smudges give it a rough, scratchy feel. The artist used a mix of etching and drypoint, which means they carved into the metal plate and scraped it to leave behind these jagged marks. It’s less about a clear picture and more about the process of drawing itself. Check out etching, drypoint, aquatint to see how these techniques work.
