About this work

This image shows a strange, mixed-up desk with a gold top. The surface is messy—blue paint splatters, black scribbles, and what looks like a squashed bug. Below, the desk legs are drawn as wire hangers, some bent or broken. A pinkish blob with a stem sits in the corner like a weird plant. The artist used real graph paper and glued it into a frame, then added paint and ink on top. The desk looks both real and surreal at once. Check out Bruno Gironcoli next to see how he played with everyday objects in his work.
