About this work

This painting shows a big black circle in the middle. Around it, there’s a pattern of tiny, repeating hexagons—like a honeycomb. The edges of the paper are plain white, and the whole thing looks very clean and simple. The black circle sits perfectly centered over the hexagon grid, which makes it stand out even more. The hexagons are drawn with fine lines, giving the whole piece a quiet, almost mechanical feel. If you like this, check out cross-hatching—it’s a drawing technique that uses lots of parallel lines to create shading.
