About this work

This painting is all black lines and shapes on white paper. You see three big, squashed figures—like people but not quite. Their arms and legs are stretched out in odd ways, some overlapping. The lines are thick in spots, thin in others, and the whole thing feels loose and fast. The artist used watercolor, but it looks more like ink splashes. The paper shows through in places, making the black stand out even more. Want to see how this artist worked? Check out David V. Hayes.
