About this work

This sketch shows a woman’s face in profile, turned slightly toward us. Her hair is short, brushed back, and painted in quick, bright strokes of orange and red. The skin is light with a soft pink tint, and her eyes are a calm blue. The lines around her neck and jaw are loose, almost like a quick sketch. The colors pop against the plain paper, making the face stand out. The artist used colored pencils, layering them to create depth without blending. Check out Elizabeth Peyton for more of her portrait work.
