This drawing shows big, swirling shapes in black and white. The lines are rough, almost like scribbles, but they form curves and angles that overlap. A light, diamond-shaped form sits in the middle, surrounded by darker, shadowy areas. The artist used charcoal, which makes the lines look soft and smudged in places. The way the shapes twist gives it a sense of movement, even though it’s just paper and pencil. Check out scumbling to see how artists create texture with charcoal.
