This painting shows four sheets of torn white paper stuck together. On each sheet, small lumps of plaster are scattered randomly—some look like tiny hills, others like blobs. The paper’s edges are rough, and the plaster is a pale, uneven color. The artist used real plaster pressed onto the paper, making each lump feel almost like a tiny landform. It’s simple but oddly striking how something so basic can feel so deliberate. Next, check out Giuseppe Penone to see how he plays with materials like this.
