This painting shows a chaotic, swirling crowd of people and animals tangled in the air. Some figures are on horseback, others float or cling to each other. The colors are mostly warm—golden, brown, and pale skin tones—with a hazy, smoky background. Arms stretch out wildly, and some faces look upward, as if caught in a storm. Notice how the light hits the figures unevenly, making some parts glow while others stay dark. This is a trick artists use to create depth. Look up chiaroscuro to see how this technique works in other paintings.
