Fumée is a 1951 by Marie-Louise Carven, held at Palais Galliera - Musée de la Mode de la Ville de Paris.
This sketch shows a woman in a long, flowing dress. The bodice is off-the-shoulder with a deep V-neck, covered in white floral appliqués. The skirt is dark with a wispy, smoky effect, as if the fabric is dissolving into the background. The woman’s pose is simple, with one hand resting on her hip and the other slightly forward. The loose, sketchy lines give the drawing a quick, almost smudged feel. The flowers on the dress look like they’re floating, not quite attached. The name "Fumée" (French for "smoke") hints at that hazy, dreamy quality. Want to see more by this artist? Check out Marie-Louise Carven.
