About this work

This is a black-and-white drawing of a long, flowing dress with a deep V-neck and puffy sleeves. The fabric looks soft but is made of tiny, crisscrossed lines that give it texture. The skirt flares out slightly, and the dress is tied at the waist with a wide belt. The artist used a technique called etching, where they scratched into a metal plate to create the lines. The result looks almost like woven fabric or lace. Check out lithography next to see how it’s different from etching.
