This sketch shows a man with a tired face and messy hair. His head is tilted down, like he’s lost in thought. The lines are rough and quick, almost like scribbles—no smooth shading, just dark marks that catch his wrinkles and the curve of his neck. The artist used a simple tool to make these marks, pressing hard in some spots and light in others. It looks like the paper itself might be textured, too. Check out lithography to see how artists use flat surfaces to print bold, sketchy images like this.
