About this work

This print shows a peafowl hen standing in a bare room, her feathers sharp against the plain walls. The artist used lithography, a method where ink sticks to greasy areas on a stone plate. Here he adds embossing, pressing the paper so the surface ripples under the bird’s body. The quiet scene feels real, like a snapshot. The hen’s feathers look detailed but not perfect. It’s part of a set of four prints, each with this same calm mood. Check out more prints by Joachim Schönfeldt.
