This painting shows five white lines arching across a black background. The lines are uneven, some thicker and some thinner, with small drips and splatters along the edges. The dark background makes the white lines stand out sharply. The artist used a printmaking method called aquatint, which creates subtle tonal shifts. This piece feels simple but has a lot of energy in its loose, handmade look. Check out Joan Jonas to see more of her experimental work.
