Untitled is a 1916 ink by John Sloan, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This sketch shows a big, wild-looking man in a tall hat and loose clothes, dancing or stumbling down a city street. Around him, smaller figures watch—some standing, some leaning in. The buildings and people are drawn quickly, with lots of dark lines and shading. The artist used a scratchy, layered style to build up the dark areas, which makes the scene feel busy and alive. This is a great example of how artists can create depth with just lines. Look up etching to see how this technique works.
