This painting shows sharp black shapes on bright, flat colors. The forms look like broken pieces—some are angular, others stretch like wings or bodies. Pink, blue, and green blocks overlap, while black lines cut across the scene. The whole thing feels uneven, like something torn and rearranged. The artist used linoleum cuts, a method where designs are carved into the material before ink is applied. This piece mixes those carved lines with watercolor washes for color. Look up Marcel Janco to see more of his bold, geometric work.
