About this work

This painting shows a tall, thin black line rising straight up from the bottom. At different points along the line, there are small, dark shapes hanging like weights. The background is mostly a flat, light gray color. The lines and shapes are simple but uneven, like they were drawn quickly. The small shapes look like rough faces or masks, some darker than others. The way they’re spaced out makes the line feel unstable, like it might sway. Next, check out lithography to see how this print was made.
