Untitled is a 1924 ink by Karl Nierendorf Otto Dix, depicting World War I, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This etching shows a shadowy soldier in a trench, his face half-lit by a dim light. His eyes look tired, not heroic. He grips a rifle, but the weight seems too much. This is from Dix’s *The War* series. He made 50 prints like this after surviving World War I. The dark lines and rough textures show his anger and fear.
