About this work

This painting is messy and busy. Shapes and colors clash—big eyes stare out, hands reach up, and blocks of red and black fight for space. The brushstrokes are thick, almost like the paint was slapped on. Yellows and browns mix with dark spots, making it hard to tell where one thing ends and another begins. The artist used paint in heavy layers, almost like they wanted it to feel rough. The colors don’t match neatly, and the forms don’t look real. It’s not trying to be pretty or clear. If you like this wild style, look up impasto.
