This is a single tree drawn in ink, but it’s upside-down—roots spread wide at the bottom, bare branches reaching up. The lines are thin and precise, almost like a sketch, with the trunk darkening near the center. Off to the side, a tiny stick-figure stands, dwarfed by the tree’s size. The artist used only ink and paper, with no colors or shading beyond the ink’s natural depth. The roots twist in every direction, filling most of the page, while the branches above are sparse and gnarled. Look up Roxy Paine to see more of their work with trees and ink.
