This drawing shows two tall, narrow shapes that look like arrows pointing up and down. They’re made of lots of thin, curved pencil lines that fill the space between them. The paper is light-colored, and the pencil strokes are all the same soft gray. The lines get tighter near the top and bottom, almost like a funnel. It’s just pencil on paper—no color, no shading, just the marks themselves. Next, check out cross-hatching to see how artists build up shapes with lines.
