About this work

This piece looks like a light-colored sheet with tiny flecks of blue, pink, and green scattered across it. In the middle sits a blank, light-brown rectangle—just a piece of wood or paper, really. The edges of the rectangle are clean, but the rest of the paper feels rough and uneven. The simplicity here is the point. The flecks might be bits of old paper or paint, but they don’t form anything. The rectangle just sits there, empty. It’s like the artist is asking: *What’s left when you strip everything away?* If you like this kind of minimal art, check out Sherrie Levine.
