Untitled is a 2004 oil by A.K. Burns, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This image looks like a collage. A man’s face is in the center, but his eyes and mouth are covered with bright colors, dots, and lace patterns. Around his head is a gold doily with gears and tiny pink dots. His suit is mixed with a bird’s wing—one side is blue and green feathers, the other is a patchwork of fabrics. The artist used real printed photos and lace, then added ink to change parts of the picture. The mix of old-fashioned lace and modern colors feels unexpected.
