This sketch shows two people sitting close together, their faces lit up with smiles. One has their arm around the other’s shoulders, while the second person’s arms are raised, as if mid-gesture. The lines are soft and quick, almost like a hurried sketch, and the paper has a warm, off-white tone. The artist used pencil on two pieces of paper, pressing lightly in some spots and darker in others. This gives the drawing a loose, sketchy feel, like it was drawn fast but with care. Next, check out cross-hatching to see how artists build depth with lines.
