Untitled is a 2017 oil by Chris Ofili, a Contemporary Abstract work, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This painting is all sharp angles and bold shapes. Black, white, and gray lines fill most of the space, forming a tight pattern like a woven wall. On the left, a white spoon leans against the black background. To the right, a dark shape looks like a person holding something, but it’s hard to tell. The whole thing feels like a mix of old and new. The patterns remind you of traditional African textiles, but the style is very modern. Check out Chris Ofili to see more of his work.
