About this work

This sketch shows a person kneeling, their body twisted as they hold another figure close. The lines are loose and scratchy, almost like they were drawn in a hurry. The person in front has one arm wrapped around the other, and the second figure’s head is tucked under their chin. The artist used a technique where ink is scraped into a metal plate to create texture—this is called *drypoint*. It makes the lines look rough and uneven. Check out lithography to see how other artists used similar printmaking tricks.
