About this work

This is a wall of small, framed prints—60 in all—each packed with bold colors, text, and odd shapes. You see faces, hands, and symbols mixed with words, some in English, some in other languages. Bright yellows, deep blacks, and flashes of red stand out against mostly white backgrounds. A few pieces have glitter, tiny eyeballs, or even what looks like toy ice cubes glued on. The mix of materials—ink, paint, collage, and even real objects—makes each print feel like a puzzle. Some look like old posters, while others feel more like abstract doodles. The artist clearly loved layering things, both visually and physically. Check out Ellen Gallagher to see how she blends text and image in her work.
