Untitled is a 1997 graphite by Frédéric Bruly Bouabré, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This drawing shows a simple star shape with small black dots inside it. The star sits on a patch of green grass under a yellow sun. The edges of the paper have blue lines, and there’s writing around the border in a loose, handwritten style. The title is written at the top in French: *"L’Apeau de la Panthère."* That roughly means "The Panther’s Water," hinting at a story or symbol behind the star. The dots inside might be a way to fill in the shape without shading. Next, check out stippling to see how artists use dots to create texture.
Frédéric Bruly Bouabré (1923–2014) was an Ivorian artist, born in Idibouo-Zépréguhé.
