Untitled is a 1923 ink by George Overbury ("Pop") Hart, held at Museum of Modern Art.
This sketch shows a dim, shadowy scene with three figures. On the left, a person in a hat stands near a dark, heavy object—maybe a cart or a table. In the center, another figure kneels, holding what looks like a bundle or a person. To the right, a seated figure with a hat leans forward, their face half-lit. The artist used rough, scratchy lines to create depth, almost like carving into the paper. The lighting is uneven, making some areas almost disappear into the dark. Next, check out chiaroscuro to see how artists use light and shadow this way.
