About this work

This is two long, flat pictures of desert ground. The colors are dull—browns, tans, and a little gray. You can see some rocks and patches of dirt, but nothing moves. The sky is just a thin white line at the top. The artist added watercolor in some spots to make parts look slightly wet. It’s like they took a photo of the desert and then tweaked it a little. Look up watercolor to see how artists use it this way.
