About this work

This close-up shows a jumble of rough, uneven stones in shades of gray and white. The rocks vary in size, some small and pebble-like, others bigger and rounded. The surface looks textured, with shadows adding depth. The artist used a printing method that lets them carve lines into a metal plate. This creates a rough, almost sketchy look. Look up etching to see how it works.
