This painting shows two nearly identical portraits of a woman with a crown. She’s facing forward, her gaze soft but distant, and the background is dark with faint light coming from the sides. The colors are muted, mostly grays and blacks, giving it a shadowy, dreamy look. The artist used a printmaking method called *intaglio*, where ink is pressed into etched lines on a metal plate. This creates sharp, detailed lines that stand out against the smooth tones. Next, check out Joey Kötting’s other work to see how he plays with light and identity.
