This painting looks messy on purpose. Two big, rough figures stand in a room, their faces and bodies made of thick, clashing colors—blues, browns, and greens. The brushstrokes are heavy, almost like chunks of paint were scraped on. One figure leans against a wall, the other slumps sideways, and the background has streaks of light blue and white. The paint is so thick in spots it looks almost three-dimensional. The colors don’t blend smoothly—they fight each other, creating a chaotic but intentional effect. This style is called impasto.
